Parameters Reference

When creating a book, you can customize these parameters to get the exact result you want. None of them require design experience to use well — book type and theme decide the overall structure, while color scheme, page count, and size fine-tune the result for your specific niche or KDP listing.

Book Type

This is the biggest decision, since it sets the underlying template every other parameter builds on:

  • journal — Lined pages for writing
  • planner — Structured planning layouts
  • notebook — Dot grid, blank, or lined
  • coloring_book — AI-generated coloring pages

Theme

Choose from: Minimal, Modern, Playful, Elegant, Vintage, Nature, or Custom. The theme drives the visual style applied across the cover and interior, so it's worth matching to the audience you're publishing for rather than treating it as a cosmetic afterthought.

Color Scheme

Select your primary color: Blue, Green, Purple, Pink, Orange, Teal, or Monochrome. This applies on top of your chosen theme, so the same theme can look noticeably different depending on the color you pick.

Page Count

Free tier: up to 60 pages. Pro: up to 200 pages. Unlimited: up to 500 pages. KDP minimum is 24 pages for paperback books, so any page count you choose above that threshold will meet Amazon's requirement automatically.

Book Size

These map directly to the trim sizes Amazon KDP supports, so whichever you choose is upload-ready:

  • 6x9 — Standard (default)
  • 7.5x9.25 — Large
  • 8.5x11 — Coloring book
  • 5x8 — Pocket

AI Generation Settings

Quality: Standard (faster) or High (more detailed). Applies to AI-generated images and coloring book pages. High quality takes longer but produces richer results — Standard is usually the better choice while you're iterating on a theme, with High reserved for the final version you plan to publish.
