Journals tend to be the simplest type to start with if you're new to KDP publishing, since the interior is mostly consistent lined pages rather than illustrated or highly structured content.

Planners

Structured planners with date grids, to-do lists, and goal-tracking pages. Ideal for daily, weekly, or monthly planning. Includes sections for notes, priorities, and reflections. Planners are a good fit if you want to target a specific audience — fitness, budgeting, productivity — since the theme and color scheme can be tuned to match without changing the underlying structure.

Notebooks

Versatile notebooks with dot grid, blank, or lined pages. Great for bullet journaling, sketching, or general note-taking. Can be themed for specific topics or left generic. Because the interior is minimal by design, notebooks are typically the fastest type to generate and review before export.
